Getting Here From Dublin

Bundoran is a 3-hour drive from Dublin. If you are driving from Dublin take the N4 to Sligo, and then on to Bundoran, via the N15 from Sligo. You can also take the N3 from Dublin to Cavan and then on to Enniskillen and Bundoran. You can take the N3 or N4 exits from the M50 (Dublin’s main ring road).
Buses run regularly from Dublin to Ballyshannon (Donegal service), which is just 4 miles from Bundoran, with bus connections. You can get the Ballyshannon bus from Dublin Airport or from the city centre bus terminal (Bus Aras).

You can also take the train to Sligo and then bus or taxi to Bundoran.

To get a bus from Sligo to Bundoran use the Galway to Derry service and get off at the East End stop in Bundoran.

Getting Here From Sligo

Sligo is just 25 miles away. Driving from Sligo to Bundoran takes about 30 minutes via the N15. It is a good road but can be busy.

There are buses from Sligo to Bundoran. You can get on the Galway to Derry express, which passes through Bundoran. Get off at the East End stop (ask the driver) and we are beside the stop.

Getting Here From Galway

Galway is 2.5-hour drive via the N17 to Sligo and then the N15 to Bundoran.

If travelling by bus from Galway takes the Derry Express, which passes through Bundoran. Get off at the East End stop in Bundoran. Click here for Galway to Derry bus timetable.

If you are arriving in Knock airport the Derry-Galway bus stops at the airport.

There is no train service between Galway and Sligo.

Getting Here From Belfast

Bundoran is a 2.5-hour drive from Belfast. Take the M1 from the city and then the A4 to Enniskillen and on to Bundoran. You can also go via Omagh on the A5 and on to Kesh (A32), Belleek and Bundoran.

There are buses from Belfast to Bundoran, via Enniskillen.

Getting Here From Derry

Derry is 70 miles away and takes 90 minutes to drive via the N13 to Letterkenny and then the N15 to Donegal town and Bundoran.

Take the Derry to Galway bus and get off at the East End stop in Bundoran.

It is also possible to fly into Derry from Ireland and the UK.

Getting Here From The UK

There are many airlines flying into Ireland from the UK. The main airlines are Aer Lingus, Ryanair, BMI, British Airways. You can also fly from Manchester to Sligo with Aer Arran.

The main airports are Dublin, Belfast, Knock (Ireland West) and Shannon. Dublin is a 3-hour drive, Belfast 2.5 hours, Knock 1.5 hours, and Shannon 4 hours. There are bus connections to Bundoran from all airports.

There are also ferry services between Ireland and the UK.

Irish Ferries, Stena Line, P&O ferries.
Ferries sail into Dublin and Belfast. There are also ferries to Rosslare, which is a 5-6 hours drive from Bundoran.

Getting Here From Europe

There are many airlines flying into Ireland from mainland Europe. Main airports are Dublin, Belfast, Shannon and Knock. See UK page for links. Good bus connections from all airports to Bundoran.

There are also ferries from France to Ireland (Irish Ferries) and many ferries from Europe to UK (P&O), and then connections to Ireland from the UK. See UK page for links.

Renting a car is a good way to check out the surf. Most airlines charge about €30 each way for a surfboard and you can easily strap your board on to the roof of the rental car (remember to bring straps). British Airways are not carrying surfboards longer than 6’1″ anymore for economy passengers.

Getting Here From The USA

From the USA there are plenty of airlines flying into Ireland. Main ones are Aer Lingus, Delta, American and Continental. Flights come into Dublin (3 hour drive) and Shannon (4 hour drive).

Most airlines will carry surfboards for about €30 each way. Some American carriers may have embargos on boards at certain times of year. Aer Lingus seems to be the most reliable for boards.
