Covid 19 Protocols at Bundoran Surf Co

We have put in place the necessary protocols to protect out staff and customers. The Irish Surfing Association and Sport Ireland have approved the plans for the surf school and we are following all official advice for the shop. The Surf Lodge protocols are in line with the Failte Ireland guidelines and we have completed the Covid 19 Safety Charter.

We look forward to seeing you all in Bundoran again soon. Please follow public health advice in relation to travel restrictions, hand hygiene and physical distancing and wearing face coverings – the surf will be here long after Covid 19.

Bookings and payments

We have online and phone booking and payment facilities and can take all payments in advance for surf lessons and rentals, accommodation bookings and surf shop purchases. A lot of our shop stock is available to buy online and we can deliver or have ready for you to collect. If you don’t see what you need online email or call and we may well have what you want. If you are surfing and/or staying with us we would ask that you use the online portal and pay in advance for your activity or before check out for accommodation bookings. If you need any help in this regard the best way to contact us email info@bundoransurfco.com

Please wear a face covering in the shop;
There is a box of tissues and pedal bin on the counter for anyone who needs to cough or sneeze;
All surfaces and door handles and changing rooms are cleaned regularly twice per day with anti bacterial spray;
We have a fully stocked first aid kit with PPE disposable masks and gloves available for anyone who would like to use them (staff or customers);
We will be limiting the number of people in the shop at one time to comply with physical distancing guidelines;
If you can pleae use contactless payment.

Surf School

If you are displaying any Covid 19 symptoms (new cough, high temperature) or have had contact with a confirmed case please cancel your lessons and do not attend – call your GP for advice.

The big change for this year is that everyone will be meeting us at the beach for surf lessons – we are set up at Tullan Strand and Rossnowlagh with all equipment at the beach;
You will see our outdoor signs promoting physical distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette;
We can take all bookings and payments online or by phone or cash or you can call in to the shop – we do have card facilities at both beaches this year but payment pre arrival is our preferred option;
We will split surfers into smaller groups and stagger their arrival times;
We are currently not providing changing rooms or transport to and from the beach;
It is advisable to arrive with your swimsuit already on;
If you have your own wetsuit then best to arrive in your wetsuit and have dry clothes and towel in a bag – bag storage at both beaches;
We have hand sanitizer and tissues/bins at both locations – we would request everyone to use hand sanitizer on arrival and departure;
Full record kept of people on the session and record of instructors sessions and times for contact tracing purposes – this will be only used for official contact tracing purposes;
We have loads of suits so each suit will only be used once per day and washed after each use:
We are not providing wetsuit boots and they are not needed in the water in summer – bring your own or wear a pair of old shoes or sandals to walk to the beach;
All wetsuits are washed in antibacterial wetsuit shampoo and milton after each use;
Boards are washed down with soap and water after each use;
Our first aid kits and rescue equipment has been restocked to include additional CPR and PPE equipment as recommended by Irish Water Safety;
Instructors are following official physical distancing guidelines on land and in the water;
To implement this stlye of teaching instructors will be encoraging people to paddle as much as possible and catch their own waves;
Instructors will be in the water with you at all times to advise and assist;
Parents need to be on time to collect children after the session to help them get changed;
Please use hand sanitizer on departure.

Surf Lodge

Failte Ireland recently issued guidelines for the reopening of our accommodation. The main points to note are that you will see hand sanitizing stations at all entrance and exit points to the property and in common areas along with HSE Covid 19 posters. There are tissues and pedal bins for anyone that coughs. We are implementing a rigorous cleaning regime for all bedrooms and common areas.

There will be some changes to the Surf Lodge that are important:

Breakfast is from 8.30am to 10am and will be based on time slots that you can book on check in;
breakfast will be table service rather than self service;
kitchen will close after breakfast and not be available during the day/evening;
the layout of chairs and tables and couches has been reconfigured to facilitate physical distancing between guests;
guests will be able to use the dining room to eat take away foor or drinks that they purchase from local restaurants or shops but we will not be able to allow guests to use the kitchen for cooking;
sitting room and dining room closed at 11pm;
if you are doing surf lessons with us you need to meet us at the beach – we are not providing changing rooms or transport;
we have a dedicated board and suit storage area for guests who have their own equipment – please wash all equipment before storing in this area;
shared dorm rooms are only available for a group that are together – single travellers will need to book a single room:
for check in we ask that only one person from a group comes in initially and we will organise the keys and rooms etc with that one person only, who can then show the rest of the group;
on check out we will ask you to open the windows in the room and leave your keys in the door and if possible to pay your bill online pre departure to avoid too many people in the shop.

If you are displaying any Covid 19 symptoms (new cough, high temperature) or have had contact with a confirmed case please cancel your lessons and do not attend – call your GP for advice.
